The WaveDriver 20 Bipotentiostat/Galvanostat and Rotating Ring-Disk Electrode (RRDE) Bundle is an affordable combination of Pine Research products that puts you on the path to testing electrocatalyst films on electrode surfaces. Built around a high-quality rotating glassy carbon disk, platinum ring electrode (RRDE), the items in this bundle allow you to measure fundamental electrode kinetics. A typical application involves oxygen reduction (ORR) kinetic studies using a catalyst layer on the disk electrode and observation of peroxide formation at the ring electrode. Background theory about the use of an RRDE to probe electrode kinetics can be found throughout the published electrochemical literature. Pine offers an excellent overview of RRDE theory found on the documentation tab. Customers typically select the WaveDriver 20 and RRDE Bundle for the following reasons:
- Research requires the most trusted electrode rotator in the world, the MSR
- To replicate, emulate, and contribute to the scientific literature with the same trusted electrochemical system
- The bundle the rotator and bipotentiostat with pre-selected components, which minimized setup time
Reference electrode is not included with the WaveNow Potentiostat and RDE Bundle. Please purchase a reference electrode separately!
The MSR Rotator and WaveDriver 10 potentiostat require a power cable. Specify the appropriate power cord style during order (quantity of 2). Pine Research offers a wide variety of plug styles.
MAXIMUM ROTATION RATE: 3000 RPM — Never exceed maximum rotation rate when working with rotating electrodes.
TEMPERATURE RANGE: 10°C – 80°C — Electrode damage may occur at temperatures beyond recommended range.
CHEMICAL INCOMPATIBILITIES: Concentrated Strong Acids — Damage or discoloration may occur.
Polishing PEEK-shrouded electrodes is best accomplished using a mechanical polisher. Other shroud materials are available upon request.
This series of RDE tips may be used with the MSR and ASR Rotators.
The WaveDriver 20 is a cost-effective, yet powerful and versatile, benchtop instrument capable of performing a wide range of electroanalytical techniques. With a modest form factor and convenient USB interface, the WaveDriver 20 packs a punch with iR compensation, ability to form over 38 different electrochemical techniques, and controlled through AfterMathTM Data Organizer software. The WaveDriver 20 is a true bipotentiostat, which means two working electrode channels to a common counter and reference electrode, ideal for experiments such as rotating ring-disk analysis. The WaveDriver boasts an impressive current range from ±100 nA up to ±1 A, advanced input, output, and waveform filters, and iR compensation. The WaveDriver 20 connects to your laptop or PC via a standard USB cable and is controlled by our power AfterMathTM Data Organizer software application. Rear panel connections allow rotation rate control when using rotating disk, cylinder, or ring-disk electrodes. Additional connections for analog input/output and synchronized timing permit the WaveDriver to be used in conjunction with other instruments.
Affordable. Take a look around at similar bipotentiostat/galvanostat systems and you will have a difficult time finding one with comparable specs and capabilities at the same modest price point. Pine Research strives to bring you cost-effective electrochemical instrumentation. The WaveDriver 20 also includes a four option dummy cell for calibration checking and instrument function testing, at no additional cost.
Versatile. Capable of performing up to 38 different techniques, the WaveDriver 20 is an all-around performer. It finds used in academic and industrial research around the world. Unlike many of its peers, the WaveDriver 20 was built to perform a little bit of everything and without added cost of different software “upgrades.”
Capable. Designed with the everyday user in mind, the specifications for the WaveDriver 20 bipotentiostat is broad enough to permit you to perform a wide range of routine electrochemical techniques but also prudently chosen to allow for a simple and affordable design. Popular and common techniques such as cyclic voltammetry, bulk electrolysis, differential pulse voltammetry, square wave and pulse voltammetry, battery charge/discharge sequences, corrosion-based analysis such as linear polarization resistance, chronoamperometry, and chronopotentiometry are easily configured and executed using our AfterMath software package.
