Screen-Printed Electrodes, Platinum (Pt), 2 mm OD, Ag/AgCl Reference, 6-pack
These low-cost, screen-printed electrodes (SPEs) are suitable for use in the teaching laboratory, biosensor development, and some electroanalytical applications, such as electrochemical measurements within a glovebox. These SPEs are fabricated using the same technology found in most blood glucose sensors. The electrode pattern includes a platinum working electrode, a platinum counter electrode, and a silver/silver chloride (Ag/AgCl) reference electrode. The substrate is alumina ceramic and the traces are insulted with borosilicate glass. These electrodes are compatible in non-aqueous solvents. These electrodes have a reasonably long lifetime, subject to how they are used in with what chemistry, certainly much longer than the carbon-based SPEs. If you do not already have it, the Screen-Printed Electrode Cell Starter Kit is required to interface these SPEs to a potentiostat. In addition, even though these SPEs are shipped with a reference electrode, it is advised to have an appropriate Low Profile reference electrodes on hand for use when the reference spot on the SPE has decayed/worn away.
