Current is the flow of electrons; or, the flow of electric charge.  Current that is used to power a device is called electricity.

In an electrochemical system, Electrochemical System current may be either positive or negative, and the sign associated with current indicates the direction of flow.  Since there is no universal definition for whether positive or negative current is related to oxidation Oxidation or reduction, Reduction it is important to recognize which convention is being used in any given set of electrochemical data.
