Aqueous Use
Pine Research offers a variety of standard reference electrodes for use in routine electrochemical measurements. Pine offers standard size (9.5 mm OD) reference electrodes, which are shipped with a PTFE adapter to fit a 14/20 glass port; and miniature size (3.5 mm OD) reference electrodes, which are primarily for use with theCompact Voltammetry Cell Kit and the Honeycomb Spectroelectrochemical Cell Kit.
The Standard sized reference electrodes are narrow enough to fit through the standard 14/20 ground glass joint found on our electrochemical cells. A PTFE sleeve facilitates mounting the reference electrode in the joint. The junction at the lower end of the reference electrode is a ceramic frit.
The low cost of these reference electrodes make them ideal for any application. The aqueous reference electrodes are gel-filled silver/silver chloride (Ag/AgCl) references with a small ceramic frit at the lower end of the electrode. The outer diameter of the electrode is 3.5 mm and electrical connection is made via a 1.0 mm diameter pin at the top end of the electrode. This pin can accept an alligator clip or a small cable with an appropriately-sized “pin and socket” connector. These electrodes are available in two lengths.

Non-Aqueous Use
Reference electrodes that do not contain any liquid or liquid junctions and can be used as pseudo-reference electrodes. They can also be filled with your own solution for non-aqueous based reference electrodes. Available in both standard (9.5 mm OD) and LowProfile (3.5 mm OD) sizes.
The Ag pseudo reference electrodes is narrow enough to fit through the standard 14/20 ground glass joint found on our electrochemical cells. A PTFE sleeve facilitates mounting the reference electrode in the joint. The standard sized Ag pseudo reference electrodes comes with two glass tubes: a tube that terminates with a ceramic frit and a tube that terminates in a 2 mm ID open hole.
Pine offers small reference electrodes, designed for use with the Compact Voltammetry Cell Kit and the Honeycomb Spectroelectrochemical Cell Kit. The low cost of these reference electrodes make them ideal for any application. The non-aqueous reference electrodes is a silver wire whose connection to a 1.0 mm diameter pin at the top end of the electrode is shrouded in 3.5 mm PTFE. This pin can accept an alligator clip or a small cable with an appropriately sized “pin and socket” connector.
SCREEN-PRINTED ELECTRODES
Several styles of screen-printed electrodes – both disposable (PET) and reusable (ceramic) styles.
Our screen printed carbon electrodes are inexpensive and suitable for teaching and biosensor research. The patterned “honeycomb” electrode card is designed for our spectroelectrochemical cell.
