Simulation Questionnaire for Faculty Collect feedback on use of simulation, its pricing, and its implementation in Fall 2022. 1. A little about you...Name* First Last Email* Institution* Have you ever used electrochemical simulation as pedagogical support?* Yes, I have used it during lecture (pedagogical aide) Yes, I have used it during lab (pedagogical aide) Yes, I have required students to use it for homework (learning resource) Yes, I have required students to use it for lab work (learning resource) No, I haven't yet but I would like to No and I'm not interested in doing so Did you know? AfterMath Electrochemical Studio, is the software offered by Pine Research. We are currently developing an accurate and easy to use electrochemical simulation tool for the greater electrochemical community. Our initial focus is "electrochemical simulation as a pedagogical support." The market does not have a cost-effective, easy-to-implement, accessible, and dependable software available for this application. While there are several commercial electrochemical simulation packages available in the market, most are not easily implemented in courses, either because they depend on expensive licenses, dongles, or are otherwise freeware that have no technical and customer support. Our goal is to close that gap, and provide a useful tool that students (and/or departments or colleges) can afford and faculty can easily implement.2. Thinking about this Fall...Will you include electrochemistry in any of your courses in Fall 2023?* Yes No Uncertain Analytical Chemistry, Quantitative Analysis, Inorganic Chemistry, Electrochemistry, Special Topics Courses, etc.Considering Fall 2023 Semester, which of the following courses will you teach that will include electrochemistry? Feedback on License Cost and PricingOnline Option in Development - Support for MacOS! NEW! Online use of AfterMath will support MacOS in a browser! If you have been a beta-tester for us, you will likely know that AfterMath is a Windows desktop application. It does not natively run on MacOS. This was a source of pain for Apple users, as there is no simple way to run a Windows-native application on a Mac. Recently, we have found a way to offer AfterMath Simulation online, in a browser tab, that works on any operating system such as Windows, MacOS, and ChromeOS. This means faculty doesn't have to worry about their students who use Macs - we have a solution for everyone! What are the most likely ways you would pay for licenses? Institutional Purchase (departmental, college, IT, library, etc.) Student Responsibility (require license purchase on syllabus) Other (please describe below) Commercially supported software includes customer and technical support, responsive feedback to bugs and feature requests, and continual software updates. Other License Purchasing Option Please describe your courseIf an Institutional (i.e. Departmental, College, IT, Library, Campus-wide, etc.) licensing option is feasible at your institution, how much time do you need to navigate through the process? 1 - 3 weeks a month 2 - 3 months 4+ months Are you kidding me? This is way too complicated. What is a reasonable price for Simulation, per student?*Please enter a number greater than or equal to 15.Starting at $15/student. Considerations include: online accessibility, cross-platform capability (Windows, MacOS, ChromeOS), sales, customer, and technical support, feature updates, and more.Online access carries a higher cost. What additional amount is worth online/cross-platform access?*Please enter a number greater than or equal to 0.This includes support for MacOS, which is not possible with local installed (Windows Only) AfterMath. Internet access required for use.Total per studentSum of base price and online access.4. Thank you and submitWould you like more information about our simulation software?* Yes No We can contact you directly to review what we can offer currently and discuss pricing options. We can also show you the online access version, which supports MacOS. Your feedback can help shape the outcome. Thank you for your time! If you chose for us to contact you, we will do so shortly. We appreciate your feedback, which helps us to best serve the larger electrochemical community with a meaningful pedagogical tool! We will have Simulation licensing ready to launch by mid-Summer, in time for you to include it in your course syllabus and/or work with your institution to find the best license purchasing option.
