Our goal, in everything we do, is to make electrochemistry more accessible to you by providing tools, hardware, and software to support electrochemical education and research. Now that you have used AfterMath simulation, we want to give you the chance to tell us what you like, what you don’t like, and provide important feedback regarding your experience with our new software addition. We will not ask your name or other specifically identifying information, in the hopes you will be very honest with your feedback.

AfterMath Simulation (Fall 2022 Beta) Feedback

Part III: User Interface
The questions that follow pertain only to the look, feel, and navigation of the software.
Visually, I easily understood the various buttons and what they were intended to do.*

The AfterMath version you used for Simulation is new - the blue and white theme with flat white icons.
The user interface clearly guided me through steps to produce a simulation.

Once you added a Simulation node to the archive, the flow of Mechanism --> Reaction and Species --> Experiment --> Settings made sense and was clear.
I was able to create my first simulation quickly and easily.*

Like any new software, you sat down to try it out and was able to find your way to a simulation result easily.
The plot animation tools (start, stop, drawing speed, slider selector) were helpful and easy to use.*

After a simulation has been performed (by View or by Perform), the plots can be animated. The animation speed can be adjusted, the animation can be paused, and users can use the slider tool to select a specific "slice" in time as needed.

IV: Workflow
The manner in which you enter into the software, start a simulation, work through mechanisms and experiments, and obtain results.
It was obvious how to start a simulation.*

I understand the difference between clicking "SIMULATE" and "ARCHIVE"*

Once all parameters are entered for the reaction, species, and experiment users can either click SIMULATE or ARCHIVE to visualize the simulation output.
When clicking perform, it was clear that AfterMath created an archive entry full of plots and other experiment detail.*

Clicking "View" only changes the live display of that specific simulation, but when you want to save the output and parameters from a simulation, clicking "Perform" adds a copy of the simulation (settings, results, etc.) into the archive.

- Higher Order Reactions (e.g., secondary and/or tertiary)
- Surface Reactions (including adsorption models)
- Radial Diffusion (i.e., micro/nano electrode reseponses)
- Options to consider uncompensated resistance (e.g., iR compensation)
- Options to consider system capacitance (e.g., add capacitance)
- Support for Apple Computers
- Rotating Disk/Rotating Ring-Disk Simulation
- User-Level simulation grid parameter adjustments
- Algorithmic Fitting (i.e., software curve fitting to provide parameters from real data)
- Marcus-Hush Kinetics (currently, we only support Butler-Volmer)
The software will always be evolving. Your feedback helps us develop a roadmap of functional milestones.
Thank you for your help in testing and using AfterMath Electochemical Studio Simulation. We hope it was a very useful tool for you, whether for research, curiosity, coursework, or otherwise. We plan to release the software publicly in 2023. Many licensing/purchasing options will be available and we will continue to integrate your feedback into the software over time.
